da dobrowin: Manchester United scouts have now reportedly been spotted watching a defensive target ahead of a potential transfer race against Serie A giants Juventus.
Carrick emerges as leading candidate for Man Utd job
da bet7: If one former midfield star can’t get them ticking then why not turn to another former midfielder? That is very much the route that Man United are about to head down, with reports now claiming that Michael Carrick is the frontrunner to become their caretaker manager until at least the end of the season.
The former Middlesbrough manager, if it is to be him, will have fewer games than he would have wanted after the Red Devils crashed out of the FA Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday evening.
Defeat against the Seagulls means that Man United will play just 40 games this season – their fewest since 1915 – in an attempt to secure Champions League qualification against the odds.
Speaking to reporters, interim boss Darren Fletcher urged Man United’s players to “help themselves” for the remainder of the campaign, saying: “I am more disappointed than anybody, really, because I care for the club, and I want the club to do well, and I want the players to do well.
“I genuinely mean it’s not about me. I’ve had my time as a player. It’s in the bank now, it’s done. Loved every minute of it, was very lucky. It’s all about them, but we need to help them, the club need to help them, and they need to help themselves.”
It’s worth noting that United’s current failure isn’t just going to affect them on the pitch. It could also play a part in their transfer dealings as they look to beat Juventus to a key target.
Man Utd plotting Muharemovic move
One of those transfer dealings could involve Tarik Muharemovic. According to Caught Offside, Man United have been spotted scouting Muharemovic, as INEOS begin to plot their move to sign the Sassuolo defender.

Standing at 6’2 and enjoying a solid campaign in Italy, it should come as no surprise that the defender has found himself on the club’s radar, but they’re not the only ones interested.

Joining United in the race for his signature, Juventus, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly among the other clubs keeping tabs on the 22-year-old. Meanwhile, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig have prepared a bid worth €25m (£22m) plus bonuses.

Dubbed “fantastic” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Muharemovic could become a natural replacement for Harry Maguire, who is yet to sign a new deal and is, therefore, on course to leave as a free agent in the summer.
Muharemovic is younger and, statistically speaking, not too far away from matching Maguire in a number of areas. For the right price, it would make perfect sense for Man United to make their move.
